While I have always had an entrepreneurial streak, it took a layoff to propel me forward and lean heavily on my entrepreneurial desires. I’ve always been a great organizer, the person people came to when they wanted to try something new or to get things started.
My work background is 20 years in Information Technology Customer Communications Management. An IT Customer Communications professional is the person or group that helps decipher tech speak for non-technical management and end users. IT CCP’s write, edit technical document and manuals so that non-technical people can understand processes. On the other end of the spectrum, CCP’s are tasked with creating and communicating management requirements to the technical crew. I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and hold several certifications in Customer Communications.
I was providing coaching services part-time, evenings and weekends while working my full time job. I obtained my coaching certifications and began my coaching career helping individual’s structure and organize their businesses and lives. When my company began downsizing, I stepped up my practice and began to notice, that the primary demographic reaching out to me were women in midlife. The stories were the same, most of them preparing for the possibility of being unemployed. They all wanted to know how to bring in residual income to begin saving. I immediately connected with these women because I was them and they were me. It became a passion for me, almost a duty to help other women maintain a certain quality of life. I have not looked back since.
